Montrose Composers Club at Free Range
Garage Coffee, Canterbury
Analogue synth solo from Aidan! Tape loops! A punk song about gentrification (great backing vocals from Aidan and Phil Self)...singing to rotating live painting projected onto the wall...string-quartet-type-stuff...two sets, all excellent I thought.

Then on to Carmen's birthday bash at the Black Griffin, a kind of open mic takeover...much silliness on the steps of the Sidney Cooper Gallery with Ju drinking whiskey to calm her nerves before one of the musical highlights of 2018: she singing/playing "Sixteen Tons" > "Wade In the Water", looking entranced, gone, but sounding like a shamanic gospel blues goddess. Damn.
