World Peng at Crash of Moons

Wednesday 31st January, 2018
Bramley's Canterbury

Two worlds collide! Spoken word intro from Juliet, prepared bars spat over prepared beats from Humble Pious, Remi, Yanik, a mini-set from the ultra-tight young Chroma collective, and then an unforgettable hiphop cypher with MCs (no Slim or Mark, but Brew Dem stalwart Joey Prolapse showed up, also the ubiquitous Jack Mythos) passing the mic and spitting over an amazing live jamband (Jake Brant on bass, Oli Genn-Bash on soprano sax, Neil Sullivan on guitar, Adam Brodigan on drums, Callum Magill on keys). Energy!

And then i got to transform into Profe$$or Appleblo$$om (my labcoat amelioraed with a gold chain and "23" baseball cap — thanks Dom and Ju) to play a set of hiphop classics (a lot of which would be considered "old school" these days, although my baseline for that label is somewhat further back):

Lovely decor from Emilia, Ju and co (including a Discordian shrine to Big L "23rd greatest rapper of all time"), great vibes, everyone piling into the Canterbury Tales (late license) afterwards. The most "Canterbury" thing ever, I remember thinking at the end.
