Kevin Ayers interview

The first new Kevin Ayers album in 15 years, called The Unfairground is coming out next week. He's got Teenage Fan Club, Phil Manzanera, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Ladybug Transistor and some other interesting guests on there, as well as a "Wyattron" (Robert Wyatt's voice encoded into a synth). The clips I've heard sound very encouraging.

When I got back to Canterbury on Saturday night, Dave mentioned hearing an interview with him on Radio 4 that morning. I've since found an extended version (Kevin sounds quite nervous and generally uncomfortable being interviewed, but this is somehow strangely reassuring - a major theme of the interview is his discomfort with the music industry and all that goes with it). Well worth a listen, even if you're not familiar with his work.
