Inspiral Trio at Crash of Moons Club

Bramley's, Canterbury
19th July 2017

As usual, for COMC I DJ'd as Professor Appleblossom. This time my selections were a mix of Global Gong Family sounds, Rock In Opposition, some old Cardiacs (Kavus having been a member in their latter phase), general spacerock and psychedelic improv:

Bass player Dave Sturt played a solo set making use of a loop pedal, and some percussion from Ian East on a couple of things. Ian played his loop-based set involving saxophones, bass clarinet and percussion (as featured on his solo album Inner Paths). Kavus played acoustic guitar and sung some complex, dark songs. Then, after a break, they took to the stage as Inspiral Trio, playing a fully improvised psychedelic set that remained engaging from start to finish. Excellent stuff. They all seemed very interested in my DJ selection, Kavus in particular playing air guitar along with Steve Hillage's Dervish Riff and geeking out with me about Lindsay Cooper and Henry Cow. Another great Crash of Moons, many thanks to Adam Brodigan for making these happening and giving the Prof some airtime.
