Free Range with Will Glanfield Sextet (and others)

Thursday 8th November, 2012
Veg Box Cafe, Canterbury

(I missed the last one, being in Brighton watching Gong!)

Will Glanfield from the Happy Accidents has a new sextet, which he apparently describes as "Mingus meets Stravinsky" — bass clarinets, saxes, contrabass and Fred from Syd Arthur on drums (the first time I've seen him drum with anyone else).

Before that, organiser/curator Sam Bailey and Liran (from London-based psychedelic jazz quartet Led Bib, but seemingly considering a move down here!) played a very dynamic bass-and-piano duet...

...and a violin-cello duo I didn't recognise played this:

There was also some kind of sound installation planned involving little black electronic cubes placed on the tables, but I got the impression that it didn't quite work (not to worry, it was an excellent evening of music regardless). Just another Thursday evening in Canterbury, 2012...
