Sister Rosetta Tharpe!
Medicine for the soul - stop your web-browsing and watch this now!
There doesn't seem to be a clear indication of when this was filmed - early-to-mid-60's I'd guess. Many thanks to Pok for bringing Sister Rosetta to my attention (an auto mechanic in his neighbourhood mentioned her, just after he'd read about her in Joe Boyd's White Bicycles)

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I love it.
It hasn't been used in an advert has it? I recognise it for some reason. Maybe it just sounds like the sort of thing that would be in a tv advert for Orange or something.
I wouldn't be surprised if this got used in advertising, but I really hope it hasn't (and never will be).
Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" got used in a Volkswagen advert, I believe, which is really disappointing (not his fault, obviously) - but then, this brought his music to a huge audience, so perhaps the spirit of the music is using capitalism to propagate itself, rather than vice versa.
Thinking about this, I have a vague memory of Gil Scott Heron's "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" (or something obviously based on it) being used to advertise Coca-Cola...
